Yes — Singaporeans will need an ETIAS for short stays in the Schengen area once it becomes mandatory around April 2027. And no — there is nothing to do today: the application portal doesn't open until Q4 2026, and until the mandatory date you travel exactly as you do now.

What this means for Singapore passport holders

Singapore is on the EU's visa-exempt list, which is exactly who ETIAS covers. Visa-free access to Europe continues — ETIAS adds an online pre-authorisation step before travel, not a visa process.

• Nothing to apply for yet. The portal opens in Q4 2026. Anyone charging Singaporeans for an ETIAS today is selling a document that doesn't exist.
• One useful check now: the published rule requires your passport to be valid for at least 3 months beyond your departure from Europe. If your Singapore passport expires within 18 months, renewing it is slower than an ETIAS will be.
• When it opens: the application is a short online form, €20 to the EU (free under 18 / over 70), most decisions within minutes, valid 3 years of multiple trips.
